Hello! My name is Lauren and I’m so glad that you’re here.
If you’re looking for seasonal plant-based recipes that appeal to everyone, then you’ve come to the right place! I created Planted Purpose out of a desire to show that a plant-based diet is anything but bland and boring. It can be fun, simple and full of flavor. It can inspire a purposeful life.
Whether you’re vegan, transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, or simply want to start adding more plant-based foods to your diet, I hope you’ll find this blog offers a little something for everyone.
About Me
I haven’t always been vegan, but my journey began when I was 17. I remember watching a documentary and connecting the food on my plate to the animals I loved so much. I could no longer view animals like pigs and cows differently than my own cats. During this time, my mom and I both decided to become vegetarian.
Becoming vegetarian led me to think outside the box in the kitchen and my love for food and cooking began to grow. I enjoyed exposing myself to new cuisines and recipes, learning as I went.
In 2016, my mom and I decided to transition to veganism. Embracing a vegan lifestyle opened up a new world of culinary possibilities for me. The more I learned about plant-based cooking, the less I felt I had to make any sacrifices. I could still eat the foods I enjoyed so much, like ice cream and cheese, without causing any harm or suffering.
Becoming vegan has become of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I feel good about living an intentional life that aligns with my values and beliefs.
Outside the kitchen, I enjoy learning more about food photography, trying new cuisines, outdoor adventures and traveling whenever possible. I live with my boyfriend Nathan, along with our two cats, Yoshi and Malakai, and our dog Adeline. I work full-time and co-own Harlow’s Vegan Cupcakes, a vegan bakery with my mom. We offer our yummy treats at the local farmers market in Athens, GA.
